SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING MOVEMENT OF A FIREARM

The concept for the Trac Shot technology centers around the desire to provide an added layer of security for firearms when not in use. Even though firearms may be unloaded, have trigger locks, or be otherwise secured, it is not currently possible to know if an unauthorized individual takes possession or moves your firearm.

Trac Shot’s patented "MDD" technology can be inserted or attached to any firearm through a variety of methods that will detect, deter, and alert the firearm owner when the firearm is lifted or moved.

Our current MDD design allows for the device to be easily attached to most any firearm. When activated the device will communicate to a local base station that will connect to your local network and will trigger an alarm and notification to the owner of the unauthorized movement.

Our development portfolio for the technology includes a mobile version of the base station, a built-in audible and/or visual deterrent device, along with a multitude of other possible variations.

Our technology does not rely on GPS or other tracking technology thus protecting the privacy right of the owner.

We are excited to have a second patent pending and are committed to continuing to develop new and exciting products in this field.

It is our belief that our technology can significantly reduce the total number of firearm related deaths and provide firearm owners an added level of security in protecting their firearms from unauthorized movement.

BACKGROUND:

Ownership of a firearm is a fundamental right of citizenry in the US as protected by the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution. Personal protection is the main reason gun owners possess a firearm. And while gun ownership is widespread across the country, it is also very controversial due to the violent use of firearms that occurs daily. A suitable solution to finding a balanced approach to this issue continues to elude our Country’s leadership.

Owners of firearms are faced with a litany of questions when owning a firearm, such as;

· How or where will I store the firearm?

· Will I be able to access my firearm in a moment where lethal protection is needed?

· How do I prevent children or guests from accessing my firearm?

· How do I safely carry a firearm when travelling or going to and from work?

It is reported that over 82 million people currently own at least one firearm, over 32% of the adult population, while 44% of adults are reported to live in a home with a firearm. Protection is the greatest reason provided by owners of firearms at 67%. Currently there are over 48,000 firearm related deaths annually in the US with 56% the result of suicide and 41% from homicide. In addition, over 200,000 firearms are stolen annually.

Trac Shot is a newly patented “Movement Detection Device” designed to reduce the number of firearm related deaths by providing an additional layer of firearm security. MDD based products will prevent unauthorized movement of their firearms by instantaneous notification of unwanted movement. We believe that if an owner and/or law enforcement could be notified immediately upon movement of a firearm by an unauthorized individual that the number of deaths could be significantly reduced.

Geoff studied Computer Science at Southern Wesleyan University and finished his education with a degree in Business from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Geoff has an entrepreneurial spirit and pursued various opportunities early in his career which eventually led to his current position as a National Accounts Representative in the medical device industry.
